Jamie Oliver again.

He's on another mission.

Sometimes I could just kick myself. (I know… that's not very self-affirming, but you know? How can I just flat overlook something I know is on the horizon?)

You see, I'm a big fan of Jamie Oliver. I suppose I sort of feel like his mum, having watched him grow up on British telly. When we arrived in the UK in 2000, everything seemed quite different. Especially cooking!

Ryan and I quickly found 'The Naked Chef' though, and enjoyed watching it together and trying out things in the kitchen. Ryan likes Jamie's breezy attitude towards making good grub. I, on the other hand, appreciate the fact that he's an excellent chef.

As he's matured (and heck, he still isn't very old!), Jamie has morphed into a huge champion for real food. He rightly zinged British schools for their midday offerings to kids—actively showed how things could change—and has been responsible for a food revolution in school dinners there.

So why the self-flagellation? Because after his quite successful campaign to remake school dinners in his own country, Jamie Oliver is tackling lunch rooms in West Virginia of all places.

And I missed it!

The first episode aired two weeks ago; the third is tonight. Twitter reminded me because there's now a petition up to show support for Jamie's mission.

Real food. Lots of fruit and veg (and I expect quite unlike those beet cubes I remember). I can't wait to see where Jamie goes with this. And how about a green smoothie bar as well?

At least ABC has full episodes online so I can catch up…
