Being mindful.

It's not just about eating.

It's mindful anything, really. Being present in the moment.

That's quite an adjustment for most of us modern creatures. Multi-tasking has become a big thing. (Did you know studies have now shown it's not very effective? Stands to reason.)

So while we're doing mundane things, we think. Clearing out the kitchen sink, thinking of other stuff. Doing laundry, same thing.

With my newfound clarity—the mental boost from physical cleansing—I'm realizing that it's likely best to be actually present, where you are. If you're doing something you'd rather not, try being involved in it anyway. Seems best not to wish your minutes and hours away yearning to be someplace else.

If I'm being mindful, I'm present in the moment… really there and not elsewhere. Being mindful is the process of getting in touch with who you are and what works for you—not others.

Way off the track from green smoothies? Not really. Not if I believe that the clarity I've gained from better health is responsible for some of this personal re-evaluating. At the very least, I do my best to be mindful when drinking them. I savor the color, flavor and texture of each of those goblets of green. Somehow doing that seems to welcome the goodness into my body in a way that seems fitting.

Better than being mindless, it seems to me.
